It is widely accepted that good quality linen bed linen improves the quality of sleep that we get. Unfortunately, we often do not know how to properly care of our luxurious linen bedding in which we have invested. And this results in unwillingly shortening the life and quality of our precious bed linen. Here are 5 simple steps to follow when taking care for your linen bed linen.

1. Read the care labels! It sounds obvious, but it’s surprising how little of us actually do this when purchasing linen bed linen or / and laundering it for the first time! Care labels are meant to provide all the specific information you need to launder your linen bedding properly. The instructions are based on the fabric and weaving type, thread count, dye type and other features. Take few seconds to familiarize with manufacturer’s advices and guidelines.

2. Ask yourself if you know your wash machine settings. The settings differ from machine brand to brand and even model to model. So make sure you know the symbols on the wash machine panel in order to handle your linen bed linen (or linen table linen or linen bathroom linen for that matter) the way to prevent shrinkage, color loss and maintain the original high quality of your bed linen.

3. Avoid overloading your wash machine. Overloading results in too little space for your linen bedding to move around and therefore the very dirt that has been washing from the fabric is brought back in to the linens. Another consequence is that by overloading you shorten the working life of your wash machine as it has to work harder to get through the cycle with too much stuff in it.

4. Use only mild detergent and not too much of it. Some detergents contain too harsh (for linen fabric items) cleaning materials that may damage your linens by making fabric thinner in places and causing the colors to fade. By using detergents thoughtfully you will maintain your linen bed linen in the same high quality as you purchased.

5. Linen bedlinen and other linen products can be dried in a dryer. It is only advisable not to over dry them because this can cause lesser durability and color fade. Over dried linens are also harder to iron (if you prefer ironing in the first place!) To keep your linen bedding in best shape just remember to get it from the dryer when they are still slightly damp.

As you can see, taking proper care for your linen bedlinen is not a difficult job! Just have these 5 tips in mind use them and you will enjoy your luxurious linen bed linen (or linen table linen, or linen bathroom linen) for many years to come!
